Illness Update

Stayed in bed all day. Ray brought me juice, ice water and chicken soup, all the while doing some serious hacking of his own. I slept a lot, rested a lot, and did not work except for a 1 1/2 phone conference this evening. I am pooped out from that effort though I am happy about…

Sick

I am in bed shivering with a blazing headache and a cough. I am hoping if I go straight to sleep, I will awake and feel much better. This is the goal.  Good night.  Will check in tomorrow.

Orange Grove Day and Evening

I am sitting in our little stand-alone kitchen in the orange grove while I listen to people talking around the campfire. I am determined to get my blog written tonight before I get too tired to put the words on the page. We have all three daughters here, their boyfriends and several of their friends….

Ojai Sick Day for Luna

Luna woke up sick this morning. Ended up with a fairly high temperature over the course of the day, resulting in cool wash cloth and Children’s Tylenol time. Since her parents weren’t here, Grandma was the designated comfort source so we snuggled in bed all afternoon together while she slept on and off. I had…

In Ojai for a Family Weekend

We are up in Ojai for a workday tomorrow before a family camping weekend. We are lucky enough to have our little granddaughter Luna with us tonight. Her mom, dad and baby brother will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. All three daughters plus assorted friends will arrive over the next day or so.  The weather is…

The Magic Flute Tonight – A Completely Unique Production

Ray and I were the lucky recipients of tickets to see Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute, tonight at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This rendition was staged as a silent movie with graphics that flashed on a huge screen on the stage. The performers appeared via doors that swung open and closed for their solos. This was…

Art Class at the Barnsdall Tonight

After a long work day, I hesitantly climbed in the car and drove with Ray the forty-five minutes it takes to get to the Barnsdall Art Center at 5:30 in the afternoon here in LA. (It’s a 25 minute return trip later in the evening.) We were headed for our stained glass class that we’re…

Day with the Grandkids

We had a lovely visit this afternoon with Sarah and our little grandchildren, Luna and Nico. We spent time at the park and then back at Sarah and Gregorio’s home. This evening Liz and Ron came over and we all had dinner together, which was a treat. We had lots of time at the park to…

Why I Serve as a Lay Eucharistic Minister

Last night I served as the Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) at the Vigil Mass at my church, St. Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood. This means that I robed up in my black cassock and long white cotta and spent the majority of the mass standing to the left of the priest (Canon Ian Elliot Davies) at…

Back in LA, Safe and Sound

Yesterday afternoon we arrived at 5:30 in Pasadena and headed directly over to our daughter Sarah’s house to see her and – of course – our grandchildren. Nico just turned five weeks (born January 13) and Luna will be 3 on April 4th. As an extra bonus, our daughter Liz was visiting and before the…
