Over the past month, I have had a lovely series of visits from my grandkids, which has made me extremely happy. The most recent was a trip up to Ojai specifically to attend the Ventura County Fair, which is right next to the beach in Ventura. I took the train down to Union Station and rendezvoused with Luna, Nico, and Lyla, so we could make the Amtrak trek up to Ventura. There, we met Rachael, Andrew, Milo, Liz, Ron, Ethan, and Ray at the fairgrounds.
Auntie Liz, who is currently six months pregnant, couldn’t go on any of the rides, so she was entertainment coordinator par excellence, and not only did the kids all have all-ride passes, but so did Grandma. We rode until we dropped from around 3 to 11 pm, and it was one glorious time of screams, laughter, and a few yawns (the baby carousel was definitely in this category). Whatever the case, the kids all declared it “The best trip to the fair EVER,” which would have included baby Milo, if he could talk.
Please know that all is well in my world and though it’s been hot during the day (over 90), the best part of living in Ojai is that the temperature drops every night and it is delightfully cool. (Be envious, my Texas friends, I know that is not necessarily the case there.)
Here are a few photos of the fair. I wish I had more, but, you see, I was on most of the rides!

what a joyful day! Baby Milo’s smile says it all.
