Today, my daughter Rachael and son-in-law Ron (Liz’s husband) ran the LA Marathon for the first time; Andrew (Rachael’s boyfriend) ran it again after several times, and Andrew’s little brother (Michael) also ran it and I’m not sure if it was his first time or not. The bottom line is that these four people ran 26.2 miles today from Dodger Stadium to Century City and actually finished with smiles on their faces. It’s a little hard to even comprehend anyone running 26.2 miles in one stretch, which took them a little more than five hours. At the very least, I am extremely impressed, and, at the very most, bursting at the seams with pride for the successful culmination of the year’s worth of training they have all put into preparing for this very tough challenge. Congratulations Rachael, Andrew, Ron, and Michael. You are awe-inspiring.
Here are a few photos of the run. Several people were on the “support team” and were spread across several locations. This allowed for lots of encouragement and some good photo opportunities. So, here they are, the four LA Marathoners in their quest to reach the finish line, which they did while smiling. Again, wow.
