When my girls were little, I sang to them every night. Those songs were mainly by Leonard Cohen, Carol King, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins. Here is a smattering. My girls will recognize these instantly.
Little Green – Joni Mitchell:
A Case of You – Joni Mitchell:
Michael from Mountains – Judy Collins
You’ve Got a Friend – Carol King
I have more, but this will suffice for this evening.
All of these songs make me happy and reflect that late 60s and early 70s sensibility that remains with me today.
Nothing like some amazing singer/songwriters to brighten my day or help little girls to fall asleep.
Ah, shoot. I love a-l-l these. Thanks for the walk down memory land, Len.
I love Sweet Baby James. I used to sing that to my girls because it is one of the few songs I can remember all the words to when sleep deprived. Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel is good too for bedtime.
Dear Len,
So many of these songs and artists rocked me and my baby boys to sleep as well…plus Cat Stevens now Yusuf.
