Congratulations to Spencer Stone!

Spencer Stone, one of my high school writing students, has been named a Gabelli Presidential Scholar at Boston College, where he’ll attend the Carroll School of Management, majoring in finance with a minor in music. This highly competitive, merit-based award is offered to only eighteen students from the top 2% of early action applicants. It includes a full-ride scholarship and four years of fully funded travel to locations worldwide as part of the program’s leadership and service learning component.

Spencer is bright, grounded, kind, and endlessly curious. Whether playing piano with quiet intensity, leading his peers in Model UN, or rattling off obscure facts as a trivia whiz, he brings heart and intellect to everything he does. He was also accepted into several other excellent schools, including Boston University, Indiana’s Kelley School of Business, Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, and George Washington University, where he was awarded a $30,000/year Presidential Scholarship.

Spencer has a not-so-secret dream of someday competing on Jeopardy! I, for one, am sure he’ll make it on that stage and impress the world with his quick thinking and extensive trivia knowledge.

Congratulations, Spencer. You have been a joy to work with and I am so proud of you!
