Dawn at the Orange Grove

It’s the light
How it illuminates a portion of each orange tree
While the remainder resides in shadow
The trees stand swathed in light and dark
Spring green accents on forest green leaves
New light spills onto the field beyond
Imbuing the graying oak mulch with a soft peach glow
Brightness holds promise of the new day
Shadow reminds that repose is nature’s alternate state
I rise to bask in the light
While already anticipating the dark
When night will shroud the grove in softness
Before tomorrow’s pink-streaked dawn
