A true friend

Lets you pour out your heart

Without judgment

Without trying to fix what’s wrong

Holds you when you cry 

Hugs you when you’re happy

A true friend

Laughs at the same jokes

Cries at the same movies

Gets mad about the same injustices

Shares the same attitudes and values

A true friend

Pokes fun at their own failings

And also pokes fun at yours

Listens when you are:

Upset, afraid, sad

Calm, emboldened, happy

A true friend

Is thrilled at your successes

Is supportive of your failures

Is protective of you

Will defend you

A true friend

Takes time to be with you

Is present

Laughs a lot

Loves liberally
