It’s 7:05 pm and I’ve been working this afternoon. I am ready to crawl in bed and watch the rest of Atlantic Crossing, a PBS Masterpiece series about Frankin D. Roosevelt’s friendship with the Crown Princess of Norway and how that relationship influenced his decisions related to World War II. It is based on true events and is masterfully acted by Kyle MacLachlan from Twin Peaks fame as FDR and Swedish star Sofia Helin from the tv series The Bridge as Crown Princess Martha.
The love story between Crown Princess Martha and her husband, the Crown Prince, is also another reason to watch this series. It is very dear. This couple faces many unexpected challenges over this time period and it is heartening to watch the level of kindness and humanity they both displayed.
FDR is fascinating just own his own. His relationship with Eleanor as well as his secretary, Missy, adds historic texture to the drama.
I’ll let you know what I think when we’re finished with the whole series, but so far, I’d say it’s worth watching simply to learn more about what a harrowing time it was for so many during this time in history.
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend with weather as pretty as ours here in Southern California. It was glorious today.

Thanks for the hint. I love WWII history, grew up in a household where FDR was a minor god. Didn’t know about the Norway connection.
Quite interesting, indeed. I would recommend it. We finished it last night.
