I am sitting in the Vision Essentials waiting room here in LA, waiting to pick up my new glasses. I am significantly near-sighted and glasses have been a vital part of my life since 3rd grade. I was due to get new glasses way back in March, but Covid took that possibility away. After three canceled appointments (which I was completely fine with), my already scratched glasses have devolved into lenses that look like the scuffed bottoms of coke bottles. As a result, I’ve been running into counters and stumbling over the dog and straining to make out the words on the computer screen. I think my eye strain was a major contributor to the sudden appearance of a gray web in the corner of my left eye, which, along with severe headaches, pushed me past any Covid concerns and sent me straight to the ophthalmologist . After determining I didn’t have a detached retina, but rather only age-related “floaters,” the doctor and I both agreed that my sadly scratched old glasses needed to be replaced. So, that is why I am here today, in my mask, after having had my temperature taken at the building door. My new glasses are minutes away!
And here I am back home:

The lesson? Never ever order glasses without scratch resistant lenses. I truly don’t know what I was thinking when I elected to forgo that important component.
Of course, there is one downside. I suddenly can see all the places in my house that need dusting. I am horrified.
Have a happy and healthy weekend. Stay safe.
Talk again soon.
Just seeing your smiling face made me grin!
Aw, thanks, my dear. 🌺
