I’m very pleased to announce that my writing student Ruby Shapz has been accepted to UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. Ruby has decided to attend UC Berkeley in the fall of 2020 where she will pursue her major in Art History.
Ruby’s interest in art history has been bolstered by world travel. Thanks to a father who is a visual effects producer who works internationally, Ruby and her family have visited many countries across the globe. As a result, she has had the chance to tour numerous art museums where she’s seen in person the paintings featured in her Art History textbooks. Her family’s travels have allowed her not only “to visit cultures where these amazing works were created, but also to experience a deeper connection to the art as well as the artist’s perspective of his/her environment.”
Congratulations, Ruby! I am so proud of you and am delighted that you can further your education at such a wonderful university. I know you’ll add much beauty to this world with your deep appreciation of art and its history. Hooray for you and “Go, Bears!”
