I found the silver Phoenix ring you gave me
It was on the closet shelf way up high
When you slid it on my finger you said,
“My love is like that bird, it’ll never die.”
But what you said wasn’t what you meant
You didn’t want the life we shared
Instead you wanted anything else
While you pretended how much you cared
Like a wildfire in a summer drought
The true love I thought we’d found
Was consumed by your heartless flame
Leaving only ashes on the ground.
It took a long time but that’s over now
That fire cleansed me to my core
I rose from those ashes, wise and strong
And now I am free to soar
I found the silver Phoenix ring you gave me
It was on the closet shelf way up high
When I slid it on my finger I said to myself,
“I am that bird and I will fly.”

I like the lyrics. If you get a demo made, I’d like to hear it. Currently, I’m working on lyrics for a couple of songs for which I’d like to get demos made (mostly just for my own satisfaction).
Thanks, Wendel. I am going to play around with a melody next. I am enjoying the creative process of this. I wrote one other song and my brother Sam created the music and recorded it. He is a professional musician. That was quite a thrill. Glad to hear you’re exploring this medium too. It’s fun. Not easy but a nice change.
