Santa Monica Shootings Today

Today a gunman walked onto the campus of Santa Monica College and starting shooting an automatic weapon. This is the school all three of my children attended, many of their friends, along with many students from Beverly Hills. Four students are now dead and several more are critically injured. The gunman is also dead.

This is not across the country from us, but rather less than seven miles from our house. This is a place where it is likely that people I know faced danger today on an ordinary Friday in early June.

We are now watching the news coverage on this event. We are both saddened and shaken.

I am going to call it a night for today.

I am ready to sit and listen and learn what happened at SMC.

May light perpetual shine upon the dead today. May God’s grace shine upon us all.

Terrible, terrible! Praying for all affected!

  2. Violence seems to be increasing at an alarming rate. They are spending a lot of money at the school district where I teach ramping up security–their project for the summer. However, there is no way to protect the average person innocently walking along.

  3. Too awful to get my mind around. Read this in our paper this morning. Yet again another reason for gun control.
