At This Very Moment

My dog is lying at the back door looking out into the dark
The street in front of my house only has an occasional car going by
The stained glass lampshades here in the living room glow red and green
A helicopter hums far overhead
My cat meows from the chair in the other room
My eyelids are heavy
Mother Mary stares at me from two icons in the china cabinet
I taste chocolate on my tongue from an ice cream earlier
My neck feels stiff
Cordie is now outside barking at the cat, who is also now outside
A helicopter flies closer, disturbing the peace of the night
The house is quiet.
My feet are tight in my high-heeled boots
I am falling asleep
It is time for bed
Good night

What a nice way to drift off to bed!

    1. Thanks, Nancilynn. This was a prompt included in my handout for the conference. I was tired last night and wanted to get my 20 minutes in. I was glad to have something easy to try.

Thanks for sharing your 20-minute observations.

    1. Thanks, Pat. That was the best I could do last night, but I’m glad I pasted. One or the challenge of writing everyday even when pooped!
