A Poem About Spring

In preparation for participating in the National Poetry Month Challenge, I wrote this poem today.

I should prepare you, in April I am hopeful I can write a poem a day to post.

An acrostic poem:

Ojai Spring

Skies are blue now

Possible showers in a couple of days

Rain is a major part of spring

Inches of moisture saturating the ground

Nourishing roots of parched trees and plants

Giving all a good drink and a fresh, nice bath

How lovely these longer days are

Asking us to come out of our houses

Supporting our need for sunlight and Vitamin D

So many flowers in bloom

Poppies, lupines, purple sage and wild lilacs

Running rampant in celebration

Under today’s blue, but soon to be cloudy skies

Nicely adorning our Mediterranean climate

Giving an opportunity for renewal and hope
