A Gift from One of My Students: His Success

I recently received a text from one of my students, whom I helped with his dental school applications and, more recently, his residency applications. This is what he wrote:

Good morning, Len!

I hope everything has been well with you and your family, as well as your recent publication.

I wanted to update you on my GPR application, it was a very successful cycle as far as # of interviews (11). I ranked 9 of them and will hear back if I Match to one next Wednesday. Thank you for your help.

Interestingly, I will be applying for the upcoming endodontic residency cycle by May. I look forward to working with you on this personal statement if you are available sometime in February.

Best

R.

If I may add, reading the essay over again, it is very strong. I am very pleased 🙂

Then a few days ago he wrote:

Hi Len,

I will be attending UCLA AEGD Program next year. Very excited and happy. Thank you so much.

This is what is written about the UCLA AEGD program:

The Westwood AEGD Postgraduate Training Program is a one-year postgraduate certificate program with a major emphasis in clinical restorative and implant (restorative and surgical) dentistry. It is for those highly motivated dental school graduates who wish for additional intensive training in treating various complex and comprehensive cases.

The program accepts 7 residents a year.

Needless to say, I am delighted for my student. He is highly motivated, very smart, and one of the humblest people I’ve ever met. He will do a fine job wherever he goes and whatever he does. He’s just one of those people: always doing his very best with an excellent attitude.

Sometimes, I pinch myself that I can be so lucky to have such exceptional students. It is quite a pleasure to help them move forward to reach goals that will make this world of ours a much better place.

Hooray!
