Right Now

There’s been a lot of sadness in the news over the past few days.
I wrote this poem as a reminder of what feels especially important right now,
given how fleeting life can be.

Feel the breeze on your face
Notice sunlight filtering through the trees
Listen and appreciate

boisterous mockingbirds
lulling mourning doves
busy scrub jays
cawing crows

Breathe in the sweet air
Feel the quiet within
Savor the moment
Right now

  1. Len, Beautiful words to help us remember to be present and being present with the natural world is the way for many of us.

I am finding bits of peace these days by following the progress of the group of monks walking from Ft. Worth, Texas to Washington, D. C. They are Walking for Peace. They have made it as far as Alabama…today is day 52 of their walk.

I follow them via Facebook and some videos posted on You Tube.

  2. Thank you, Betty. Yes, just a little time in nature can help with the heaviness in our world. I would love to follow those monks! I will look them up on Google and join their journey. Thanks for the tip. Happy Holidays to you.

    1. Found them on Facebook. Thank you!
