My sweet nephew, Jim Agutter, is celebrating his birthday today. My sister Leslie’s son, he is fifteen years younger than I am. I remember changing his diapers as a kid and now he has grown kids of his own. Life has a way of moving forward in a steady fashion that is surprising.

I love Jim, pure and simple. He’s a good man who loves his family, bicycling, traveling, his work at the university, and many more things I certainly don’t know. But what I do know is that my life has been better because he has been in it and I count him as one of the people I hold most dear.

Happy Birthday, sweet Jim. Wishing you a happy, productive, and fun-filled upcoming year.
