A Poem For My Grandkids As They Start School Tomorrow: Dedicate Yourself

Dedicate yourself to something bigger
Stretch and grow
Push past your limitations
Move into the unknown
Trust your instincts

Dedicate yourself to a passion, a cause, a belief
Open up your world
Meet like-minded people
Pursue what is healthy and good for you
Encourage others to do what is good for them

Dedicate yourself to pushing back fear
Stand strong and brave
Walk forward with a sense of purpose
Recognize you are on your own path
Know it is right and good

Dedicate yourself to kindness and compassion
To openness and honesty
Honor connection and collaboration
Give and receive freely
Love yourself and others with a full heart

Dedicate yourself to appreciating nature’s beauty
Savor rosy sunrises and purple sunsets
Bask in the warm sun
Admire the moon and the multitude of stars
Recognize nature’s rhythm, its ebb and flow

Dedicate yourself to being curious
Follow your heart and interests
Honor your natural gifts
Understand you are unique and wonderful
Embrace your right – your mandate – to be happy

Nice, Len! These are great pointers for all of us…thinking about putting them up on my refrigerator. Any one of them, on any given day, will lead to a life well led. Thank you.

    1. I’m happy you liked my poem, Kelly. I have discovered that Luna actually reads my blog, so the poem was mainly for her. However, one of these days, hopefully, the other kids will discover Grandma’s writing and see the pieces of advice I have left for them!

      Hugs,

      Len

    2. Thanks, Kelly. Yes, I might put it on my refrigerator too as a reminder! Lol.
