Unexpected Snow Storm En Route to Salt Lake City

Ray and I have arrived in SLC to see friends and relatives for the next few days. However, we had an unexpected snowstorm for the last 40 miles of the trip. That storm hit fast and hard and created chaos on the highway to Salt Lake City. Our GPS directed us to turn at American Fork and head over a canyon to reach Draper, Utah. Luckily, we had rented the “Manager’s Special” from Hertz for a two-week low price, and that “special” ended up being a Dodge Ram truck with both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. While the gas mileage has not been great, that 4-wheel drive saved our skins as we traversed icy roads with temperatures at 28 degrees.

We are grateful to be here and happy to see our Utah family and our dear friends who have made the trek from Wales. We are now going soundly to sleep. I’ll check in again tomorrow.
