I will teach an online class on prejudice starting Monday, February 3 – March 3, from 3:30 – 5 Central Time for Story Circle Network, a women’s writing organization encouraging all women to tell their stories. We’ll look at the writings of Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Cade Bambara, Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, and Roxane Gay and explore our thoughts. feelings, and experiences related to prejudice. I will guide you along the way with the help of these five superlative Black women authors, whose stories and short essays we’ll use for our edification and inspiration. You will also have the opportunity to write on this topic in whatever form feels appropriate: poetry, short story, memoir, or personal essay.
If you’re a woman looking for a way to more deeply understand the experience of prejudice related to yourself and/or others, please consider joining me. These small online classes will also be a chance to get to know other women interested in delving into this topic. In these times, when we’ve been challenged to look deeper at prejudice on both a personal and societal level, I am excited to share the wisdom of these superlative Black women authors. I believe their words will serve as a jumping-off point for all of us to learn and grow.
All levels of writers, from beginners to published authors, are invited. We can help each other.
