Three Older Grandkids Spending Night w/ Us: So Sweet

Right now, I am writing my blog from the foot of the bed that holds two of my three Pacheco-Beaty grandkids, Nico (8) and Lya (5), while Luna (11) snoozes on a mattress on the floor. They are visiting Grandma and Grandpa, and this is their first overnight stay in a long time. I’m so happy to have them here with us. It is a special treat.

This afternoon, we went to the vampire exhibit at the Ventura County Museum. These miniatures were exquisitely handcrafted but, luckily, were not terribly scary. Then we headed to the movies to see The Wild Robot, which I highly recommend. You will laugh, cry, and delight in this sweetly touching film. Then, we met up with baby Ethan (22 months), who was so excited to see his cousins that he could not stop grinning from ear to ear. We picked up Domino’s pizza and returned to the orange grove for eating and trampoline time before heading to bed. That’s where we are now.

I am deeply in love with each of these grandkids. All four are so different yet, at their core, much the same. They are four of my very favorite people in the world, and three of them are right now in the room with me while the other is sleeping fifty feet away. How perfect is that?

I am feeling exceedingly grateful to have this much love in my life.

Here is a photo I took this afternoon outside the Ventura County Museum.

  1. I have this quote hanging in my kitchen “grandkids are little people who take up your whole heart”. My heart got fuller the day the youngest repeated that to some friends to prove that I loved her. I understand- can a heart get too full?! I don’t think so !
