This past week, our granddaughter Luna graduated from Monterrey Hills Elementary School, where she has been involved in the Spanish-English Immersion program since kindergarten. Luna is now fluent in Spanish, and she and her dual immersion classmates will get college credit in middle school when they delve into Spanish literature. Go, Luna!
Also, our younger granddaughter, Lyla, graduated from preschool at St. James Episcopal School in South Pasadena. In the fall, she will enter the dual immersion program at Monterrey Hills and will be the third Pacheco-Beaty (along with her sister Luna and brother Nico) to be in the program. Hooray for Lyla!
In addition, Ray and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary last Friday, which we commemorated by attending Lyla’s graduation, visiting Ethan and his parents in the hospital, and then going to Lyla’s graduation party with the Pacheco-Beatys along with Auntie Rachael and Andrew at St. James. It was a family-centered anniversary that felt exactly right, given this particular event-filled week.

I don’t have any pictures from our anniversary, but here’s one from March, when we were celebrating Ray’s birthday, and all was well with Ethan.
