According to Ethan’s dad, Ethan was “exponentially better” today. His appetite and energy were up, and he put a little weight on his feet.
However, Liz said the doctor told her that Ethan could remain in the hospital for another week or two due to the need for intensive wound care and physical therapy. The doctor said that if Ethan’s burns were anywhere but on his feet, they would be doing skin grafts. The good news is that the attending physician will be there tomorrow, and Liz and Ron will get a much more definitive answer from him/ her. Fingers are crossed that Ethan gets exactly the right answer based on his needs and injuries.
The highlight of today – besides more good food from Auntie Sarah and another good visit (and a toy or two) with Auntie Rachael and Andrew, was the arrival of Luna and Nico, Ethan’s first cousins (Lyla stayed home with her daddy). Apparently, Ethan thinks that 8-year-old Nico is the coolest guy ever, and he looks at Luna as if she’s the love of his life. The three cousins had lots of fun.
Ray and I will go tomorrow to see everyone. We’re looking forward to visiting the Betty-Beaty family and getting an update on exactly how long Ethan’s stay will be.
I’ll keep you informed.
Here are a few photos from today:
