Poem: The Pond Turtle

Floating in the pond
Glad to feel the sun
My brown shell is warm
Life is full of fun

How happy I am
To have turtle thoughts
I feast on green leaves and insects
Whatever I've caught

I live many years
Mate in spring and fall
Lounge with friends on logs
Give swimming my all

Whose life is this good?
Even with my foes
Big fish, snakes, bull frogs
Count among my woes

My shell keeps me safe
I can hide so fast
I am tough to catch
Raccoons are aghast

I must nest on land
This can be dicey
Bears like to eat me
They find me spicy

Still, I love my life
Freedom, sun, and food
And shy as I am
Never am I nude

    Hi Len—

I hope you are doing well. My son, Robert, is building a new house and will be taking a few items we have but is not interested in many things we have. I am 82 and Carol will be 83 next month and we need to be thinking how long we can live in this house. It may not come to having to live in some independent living facility but one never knows.

Regardless, we have a house full of nice items we have collected through decades of travel and while treasures that remind of of those places, they are just items to others.

As we downsize internally in this house (the one you visited and still has the Pig Branch Circle with a plaque with George’s name on it) it will be necessary to start selling off many smaller things.I was wondering if you would like to list items on your online eBay store for a commission? I could take any items you may sell to the UPS store for packaging and shipping,

This is just a thought as I explore ways to downsize. It may not have any interest to you. Please let me know.

    Best to Ray.

    Don
