When Pandora first received the jar (not a box) that her husband asked her to watch,
She had no intention of opening it
In fact, she hardly listened when he asked her because
The kids were screaming, and dinner needed to be made
So, there was no premeditated plan on her part
To do what she did
She was too preoccupied with life
To have time for premeditation.
However, after her husband was gone overnight
And the kids continued to act like hyenas
And she, being the first woman on earth, was lonely
For a mother or a sister or a girlfriend
With whom to commiserate
Pandora started eyeing that jar.
Of course, we all know the saying
Curiosity killed the cat and
In this case, curiosity did much more
Once Pandora gave in to her inquisitiveness
And opened the jar lid, all manner of
Evil and nasty things flew out
Leaving only hope huddled inside
Once Pandora slammed down that lid
From that moment on, women have had a reputation
For being too curious, which men have been trying
To suppress ever since
But it is ironic that a woman’s genuine interest in something besides herself
Would produce such a burdensome result
After all, isn’t it good to be curious about the world around you?
Didn’t Einstein say, “I have no special talents? I am only passionately curious.”
If that is the case, then poor Pandora was simply following her passion.
I rest my case.
