I’m surrounded, the old woman sighed,
by unexpected experiences, far and wide
Not only is my dear cat sick
but my kitchen drain is oh so thick
Clogged like mud in a bog
with sounds reminiscent of a large bull frog
To make matters worse, I must declare
My husband’s curses, he doesn’t spare
No more damned expenses, he loudly pleas
Our bank account is on its knees
I know all too well he speaks the truth
Last week our dentist had to pull his tooth
As difficult as it all might seem, and
knowing my hubby would surely scream
I stood strong and said what was right
Knowing full-well it would start a fight
Darling, I said, not to be a contrarian, but
our dear kitty needs a veterinarian
We now sit together at the vet
Waiting, and both feeling full of fret
Still we know down deep in our souls
That saving kitty is one of our goals
And perhaps while we’re gone the drain will unclog
For which, we’ll toast one another with a strong egg nog

Loved this Len. BTW my writing accountability group had it’s 100th day anniversary today! Thank you for championing this challenge. Risk taking, finding new inner territory to explore and making new and wonderful friends. I never knew I had it in me. But, then I actually saw my voice expressed in words and realized I did have it in me after all.
God Bless,
XO Carolyn
