Today, the prompt for my poetry challenge was to write a rhyming poem. Here is my offering.
Today, I rest by a gurgling brook
pleased to discover a moss-covered nook
I breathe in the air so crisp and clean
happy to be enveloped in a sea of green
In the water, I hear a swish
soon I spy a speckled fish
Up in the air, I watch it jump
then down it dives, smooth and plump
I think of lazy afternoons as a child
fishing with my dad, which makes me smile
But today I feel fully satisfied
to watch my friend frolic and glide
As I sit peaceful by the brook
my heart nudges my mind to take a deeper look
That speckled fish is no different than me
we both understand the need to be free
