Today, Ray and I had a slow morning then spent a leisurely afternoon at the famous Paris cemetery, Pere Lachaise. The rain started early but luckily stopped for the whole time Ray and I were wandering about this very old and very beautiful burial place. Last time we visited, which was many years ago, we headed over to see Jim Morrison’s grave and also Oscar Wilde’s. Today, we had a list of graves to see that included singer Edith Piaf, writers Colette, Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Toklas, and Marcel Proust, painters Eugene Delacroix, Georges Seurat, Jacques Louis David, Max Ernst, and Gustavo Caillebotte.
The day was gray, the trees bare, and the cobblestone streets shiny with the recent rain. We saw few other people as we made our way through the winding roads to find the graves of these people we both greatly admire. In other words, it was just perfect and I will remember this day for a very long time.
Here are photos of this lovely day:

Don’t know what happened to my first comment! I had no idea that all these famous people were buried in the same Paris cemetery You could be a tour guide. No photo of Jim Morrison’s? Reminded me of a cemetery in New Orleans or maybe it was Princeton. I’m glad to know other people visit cemeteries 😊
When you and your husband come to Paris, you might consider a trip to Pere Lachaise. It’s a lot of fun.
