Another Atmospheric River

I am sitting in my office. It is raining outside – gently at the moment – but it was harder just a little while ago. It has been raining on and off all day after a full night of heavy rain. We got four inches just last night. Tomorrow it is due to rain again, finally ending on Wednesday morning.

We’ve heard the loud emergency signal go off on our phones announcing flash floods. Water is standing in the fields and running down the streets in little rivulets. The sky is gray but the grass is bright green. Despite being a bit too much all at once, the earth is celebrating all of this moisture.

I love the rain. I find it soothing and peaceful. Hearing the pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof is one of my favorite sounds.

The gentle rain has now moved to a more forceful rain from the sound of it. I might get wet as I make my way from one end of the orange grove to the other to get back home. Luckily, I have on rubber boots so at least my feet won’t get wet. I suspect, however, I will arrive back to Ray with soaked hair.

That’s okay. I love the rain, after all.
