Ray and I are on our first driving trip to Texas since September 2019. Covid-19 was the culprit, and then when we were finally able to return, we flew rather than drove since the flights were faster. Until today. Here it is January 2024 and we are finally getting to make the drive on Interstate 40 through Arizona and New Mexico. We’re having a wonderful time seeing the beautiful scenery and having time on the road to just relax. What a treat.
I am a native Texan who has lived for the past 30 years in Southern California. I am a published author of both short memoir and fiction, a two-time Pushcart nominee, a nationally award-winning writing coach, an editor, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. In addition, I am the mother of three grown daughters of whom I am extremely proud, a grandmother of four darling children and the wife of a man I still love after 44 years.

I love that drive across New Mexico on 40–the landscape is so different from my North Texas. Going the opposite way from what you are, I breathe a huge sigh and think, “I’m in New Mexico again!” Love it. But we always turn off at Kline’s Corners–or occasionally Santa Rosa. Safe travels.

Thanks, Judy. We are currently in Childress heading toward Sherman. Looking forward to getting there!
