Tonight we gathered with Rachael’s boyfriend Andrew’s family for their annual Posada, commemorating Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, where they searched for a safe place to stay while Mary gave birth to Jesus. Many family members and friends were invited, and there was delicious food, including tamales and green chili pozole with chicken. Yum, yum, yum. Later in the evening, some of the older kids put on costumes and walked through the neighborhood with the rest of the partygoers following. As they walked with candles, they sang, and then after gathering back at the house, everyone sang Christmas carols. It was both touching and sweet.

Sarah’s family was invited to come, but Luna tested positive for Covid, so they had to send their regrets. We missed them! Luna, Nico, and Lyle were supposed to play major roles in the Posada. That’s okay. Hopefully, they can attend next year.
