I have been working on a piece to submit to Story Circle Network’s annual anthology, Real Women Write with the theme this year on Mothers and Mentoring: The Art of Nurturing. The original deadline was July 1 and I have been hurrying to get an essay ready. However, today, I received the good news that the deadline has been extended to July 15th, so I will now have time to slow down, revise, and, hopefully, send in an essay that will be accepted for inclusion.
Story Circle Network, a 25-year-old women’s writing organization that encourages all women to tell their stories, has published an anthology every year for the past 21 years. I have had the honor of having work published in several of these anthologies and I am very proud to have these volumes dedicated to women’s stories, large and small, as part of my publishing history. This past year, I was doubly honored by having my piece, “My Mother and Her Pain” nominated for a Pushcart Prize, which represents the best of the small presses.
If you’re a woman with a story to tell about all the different aspects of mothering, good and bad, and/or mentors that offered their own kind of mothering, then consider joining Story Circle Network and submitting something to the Real Women Write anthology. You can find more information at https://www.storycircle.org/anthology-submission/. As a long-standing member, I can promise that you’ll find at SCN a whole host of women from beginners to professionals who will provide support and guidance to you on your writing journey.
