A Trip to Disney Hall: A Must-Visit for Angelinos and Out-of-Town Guests Alike

Ray and I headed down to Disney Hall this afternoon to hear Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op 73, “Emperor” and Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe (complete).  They were both exquisitely beautiful.

If you have not made it to Disney Hall yet, then it is a must-see. The building is beautiful and the music beyond compare. The LA Philharmonic is number 8 of the top 20 symphony orchestras in the world. Make a trip to see them. The seats behind the orchestra are cheaper and the acoustics are great. The big plus is that you also see the conductor’s face, which makes the whole experience come even more alive.

Try it, you’ll like it. But be sure to come an hour ahead so you can attend the free talk about the concert. It will add a whole new dimension to your music listening since the speakers always talk about the composer’s life at the time he/she was working on the piece and also highlights of the piece itself. Most edifying!
