Heading Back On the Road

Getting the creative juices flowing again…

I re-began work on my novel today; rewrote a section and by doing, re-introduced myself to characters who have been waiting for me to return.

I am reminded that writing novels is fun and satisfying and surprising. I write to see what happens.

As long as I just enjoy the story and remember to keep the tension high, then the whole process ends up being a journey to a new place with new people who I get to know along the way.

The rewrite will come after I know these people and see how to add color to their lives.

Right now, I am going to simply enjoy the trip and see what happens along the way.

One day at a time. This is how a novel gets written. No more, no less. Off I go again…

      I think that one day at a time stuff – sometimes that one hour or minute at a time stuff – is about as true as it gets. I will remind myself of that at moments of overwhelm.
