Prompt: Haiku: A Winter’s Night

Weather shifts to cold
Wind brings Canada far south
Stars white in black sky

Gas stoves cast orange glow
Hot flames flicker with quiet joy
Warmth melts away cold

Thoughts of bed entice
Cozy under heavy quilts
A warm, safe cocoon

Dreams of summer days
Green trees, red birds and blue water
Fill this winter night

You captured the mood of a winter’s night very nicely.

  2. Lovely. So, you’ve just got the same weather we did. Winter’s back.

    1. I’m in Texas at the moment. I believe CA is much warmer…or it was yesterday!

LEN, You took me right there to that room. I shivered with you, I looked forward to that quilt as much as you did. And THAT is the definition of an excellent writer ! Do you teach a class Len that I could take? I’d like to start a blot. Any ideas? I eagerly await your response. MM

    1. Mary, I will be teaching an online class through Story Circle Network, a wonderful organization dedicated to women telling their stories. Goggle the organization and look for their tab for online classes. The class is on memoir writing inspired by food and it Is a lot of fun. I am also presenting in Austin at their national conference in April. Check it out. You aren’t too far!
